More Heartbreak from La Lupe

Even if you never EVER click on vids, click on this one.

This song fucking kills me.

And La Lupe was a D.I.V.A.

(I can't say I'm certain it's about heartbreak as I don't speak Spanish, but it sounds like it does!)

On other news, I will blog about a book .... soon.

So far as the printed word is concerned, Lisa Kleypas has rescued me from the doldrums (three half-finished books which have been lingering for weeks and which are threatening to turn into DNFs) with Suddenly You which has been in my TBR pile forever.

As for e-books, I've started on the ARC I was planning to take on holiday and HO BOY! It is tres compelling and surprising and genre-defying and just all round great! Annoyingly though I find I can never read more than a few chapters on the laptop before my eyes go googly *shakes fist at screen* so it may take me a coupla weeks to finish.

More later.

That's Puro Teatro. Great song, very soulful.

I'll translate as best I can. Bear in mind, my skills are somewhere between conversational and fluent.

Igual que en un escenario
Finges tu dolor barato
Tu drama no es necesario
Ya conozco ese teatro
Mintiendo que bien te queda el papel
Despues de todo parece
Que es tu forma de ser
Yo confiaba ciegamente
En la fiebre de tus besos
Mentiste serenamente
Y el telon cayo por eso
Teatro...
lo tuyo es puro teatro
falsedad bien ensayada
estudiado simulacro
Fue tu mejor actuacion
Destrozar mi corazon
y hoy que me lloras de veras
Recuerdo tu simulacro
Perdona que no te crea
me parece que es teatro
y acuerdate que segun tu punta de vista yo soy la mala!
Ay!!
Teatro...
lo tuyo es puro teatro
falsedad bien ensayada
estudiado simulacro
Fue tu mejor actuacion
Destrozar mi corazon
y hoy que me lloras de veras
Recuerdo tu simulacro
Perdona que no te crea
me parece que es teatro
Perdona que no te crea
Lo tuyo es puro...
Teatrooooo.

Becomes...

Just like on a stage
You fake your cheap pain
Your drama is not necessary
I already know that show
Being a liar, the role suits you so well
After all it seems
That's the way you are
I blindly trusted
The fever of your kisses
You lied serenely
And that's why the curtain fell
You're all about acting
A well-rehearsed falsehood
Studied simulation
It was your best performance
To break my heart
And now that you are really crying for me,
I remember your play-acting
Forgive me if I don't believe you
It seems like it's a play
Forgive me if I don't believe you
You're all about acting
And remember, according to you
I'm the bad one

The the chorus kicks in.

Ah yes, the infamous raspberry scene!

I really liked Suddenly You, too. Kleypas has never written a 'keeper' for me, but I like some of her books very much. However, I always feel her stories should be set a little later in the Victorian period, particularly when she writes about the 'new aristocracy' of merchants and businessmen.

Lovely translation, Ann.

OMG, you're back and I didn't even know it! WTH is wrong with me?!?!!

A little late, but welcome back *hugs*.

Suddenly You was my very FIRST Lisa Kleypas book and I still love it! It took me a really long time to look at fruit. As both Katiebabs and Meriam have mentioned.

Great translation Ann! My skills are between babbling and a toddlers, so in my eyes, your's is great. :D

La Lupe, she sounds so familiar. Must search her up!

Oh Ann - that's beautiful. And unsurprising - I first heard that song on a Pedro Almodovar film and he's All About That Sort Of Thing.

I can't wait to reach the raspberry scene now!

Meriam - I know what you mean about the setting of Kleypas books! They never sound quite 'right' to me - the characters - everything - it all sounds later than the supposed setting. But I like these ones with ambitious guttersnipe heroes and sensible heroines (a la Dreaming of You).

Hey Alys! *waves*

Kate R - oh do blog about what you think of it!

I highly recommend all of Elaine's books if you like romantic fantasy. She's an insanely gifted writer.
